Bears Sweep South Bay
6/11/08
Today the So Cal Bears finished off the South Bay Saints by beating them on the road 5-3.
South Bay jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead with back-to-back doubles in the 1st. But the Bears battled back to tie the game at 2 a piece when San Francisco St CF Ernie Munoz scored from 3rd on a trick play in which So Cal ran with perfection
The Bears added a 3 spot in the 7th to take the lead for the first time on wednesday and never looked back. Ernie Munoz started the assualt on the Saints with an rbi single and later scoring on an error.
The Bears rallied for the victory behind started Tim Aucion who went 5 innings and left the tied ball game. Jeff Farr, a redshirt freshman from Biola University recieved the win with his 2 innings pitched. Jonathan Brennan of Mt. San Jacinto closed out the game and got the save.
So Cal created a way to get the job done. The Bears pitching found themselves in trouble all day long but were bailed out by the defense who turned 4 double plays, two of which were with bases loaded.
The Bears are now 3-0 and look to continue their winning streak when they take on the So Cal Bombers on Thursday June 12 at A.B Miller High School in Fontana.
Bears Maul the Saints

The Bears opened the SCC season with a victory over the visiting South Bay Saints by a score of 8-2.
Designated Hitter Angel Santiago broke the game wide open with a massive 3-run homerun that easily cleared the left field fence giving the Bears a 6-0 lead. Santiago finished the day with 2 hits and 4 rbi's. Lance Lutz also contributed 2 rbi single along the way.
The Bears pitching stifled the Saints offense all day long giving up just 6 hits and 2 runs.
The Bears were led by Corona native Andrew Steinmeyer. Steinmeyer has recently signed a letter of intent to Biola University. He went 5 innings giving 2 hits and 0 runs while striking out 2. Steinmeyer finished with the win.
Aaron Ilharreguy and Andrew Schile combined for the final 4 innings giving up 2 runs and striking out 8 in the process.
The Bears hope to keep there winning ways and sweep the season series from the Saints with a win today as they travel to Cal. St Dominguez Hills located in the city of Carson.
Bears Start 08 with a Win

The Bears defeated the East LA Dodgers at Torrance Park by a score of 8-1.
They were led by a solid pitching performances by Andrew Steinmeyer, Tim Aucoin, and closer Andrew Schile. This trio combined in shuting down the Dodger's offense by only allowing 3 hits and 1 unearened run while striking out 12 Dodger batters in 9 innings of play. Tim Aucoin got the win.
However, The Bears offense did not struggle on this night. They scored 3 runs in the first 3 frames and exploded for 4 runs in the 6th, and a late run in the 9th.
The night was capped off by 2007 SCC All-Star Angel Santiago when he clubbed a 2-1 fastball over the right-center field fence. He finished the night going 3 for 5 with 3 rbi's.
